Children's Events

Take and Make Craft: Starting November 14 pick up a take home craft at the children’s desk. Geared towards children ages 3-6 this month’s craft is a spiky hedgehog puppet. Available while supplies last.  

Watercolor Craft: Monday, November 14 at 4pm. Learn about the importance of water conservation using the book We are Water Protectors by Carole Lindstrom which tells the tale of a Native American girl standing up to protect this important resource. Then do a craft activity that explores water based paint and how it reacts to other materials. For kids ages 5 and up.  

Sensational Play: Monday, November 14 at 10:30am. Drop by anytime between 10:30 and 11:30 for self-directed sensory activities for ages 2-4. There will be stations set up around the room, each with a different activity for children to explore at their own pace. 

Virtual Pajama Time: Monday, November 14 at 7pm. Monday, November 7 at 7pm. Get ready for bed by listening to these stories and songs that will help you drift off to dreamland. Put on your pajamas, cuddle with a loved one and bring your favorite stuffed animal friend! For kids ages 3 and up.

Wake Up Sunshine Storytime: Tuesday, November 15 and Thursday, November 17 at 10:30 OR 11:15am. Start your day with stories, songs and rhymes led by Newton Free Library children’s librarians. For children 0-4 and their caregivers.

Little Beats: Wednesday, November 16 at 10:30am. Join Little Beats for 30 minutes of yoga inspired movement in the new children’s program room! This event is best for ages 1-5 and their adults, but all are welcome.

Draw Along: Dino Edition. Wednesday, November 16 at 4pm. Draw Along continues with a focus on Stegosaurus! After creating a drawing of this popular creature from simple shapes, the artist instructor will show you how to create scenes from just your imagination. Registration (required) is only available for ages 7-10 

My First Storytime: Friday, November 18 at 10:30am. A songs and stories lapsit program for children, birth through 23 months, and their caregivers.

Coming Up For Kids

Dino Coloring Day: Saturday, November 26 at 10am. Drop by the children’s program room for some self-directed coloring and simple crafts all about dinos. For children ages 2-5
