Fall Books

Check out our full list of Fall Picture Books here.

Runaway Pumpkins by Teresa Bateman, illustrated by Stefanie Fizer Coleman: The story of a class field trip to a pumpkin farm, told in rhyme, with an unexpected ending. The kids load up the bottom of the bus with their favorite pumpkins, but when they arrive back at school, only one is left, the others having fallen out of the not quite latched storage bins.

Bella’s Fall Coat by Lynn Plourde, illustrated by Susan Gal: Bella loves the coat that Grams made for her, even though it no longer fits, and wears it outside while engaging in all her favorite fall activities, such as climbing trees to pick apples and flapping her arms like the migrating geese.  Grams, too, participates in fall activities such as pressing leaves and making apple tarts, while also making a new coat for Bella, just in time for winter.

If You Find a Leaf written and illustrated by Aimee Sicuro: A girl picks up fallen leaves and once home turns each into a work of art. One leaf becomes a hot air balloon, another a crackling campfire.
