Teen & Tween Events

Tween and Teen events are in person unless otherwise noted.

7th/8th Grade Book Club: Tuesday, November 15 at 7:30pm. Join us for a book club for teens in grades 7-8 where we explore a new book each month! Participants are encouraged to bring their own questions and ideas when we meet for the discussion. We will read All American Boys by Jason Reynolds for November. We meet once a month on the following dates: 11/15, 12/20, 1/17, 3/21, 5/16 and 6/20.

5th/6th Writing Group: Wednesday, November 16 at 7pm. Does your 5th or 6th grader love to write? Do they have stories they want to tell? This new writing group might be the group for them! This group will meet to further develop writing skills, share in a supportive community and be a space and time to grow their love of writing. We meet once a month on the following dates: 11/16, 1/18, 3/15, 5/17 and 6/21. When you register (required), you register at the same time for ALL 5 months. Teen Graphic Novel Book Club: Thursday, November 17 at 7pm. If you love comics and graphic novels, join us once a month as we discuss all things illustrated! Grades 8-12. Registration is required. This group will meet in the Teen Area. Books will be available for pick-up at the main circulation desk. Join us once a month on the following dates: 11/17, 12/15, 1/19, 2/16, 3/23, 4/27, 5/25 & 6/15. This month the group will discuss Pumpkinheads by Rainbow Rowell, illustrated by Faith Erin Hicks.

Teen MTG: Saturday, November 19 at 2pm. Want to meet up and play some Magic: The Gathering on a Saturday? We've found just the place: our Teen Area! This event is an in-person meetup for people to play. Please bring cards if you have them! We will meet once a month on the following Saturdays: 11/19, 12/17, 1/21, 2/11, 3/25, 4/29, 5/20 & 6/17.

Coming up for Teens and Tweens

Tween Graphic Novel Book Club: Tuesday, November 22 at 7pm. If you enjoy the pace, imagery and stories presented in graphic novels then this is the club for you! We’ll meet once a month on 11/22, 12/27, 1/24, 2/28, 3/28, 4/25, 5/23 and 6/27. Registration (required) is for tweens in 5-7 grade only. When you register, you register for ALL 8 meetings. This month we'll discuss Dungeon Critters by Natalie Riess & Sara Goetter.

3D Modeling with TinkerCAD:: Tuesday, November 29 at 7pm. Design your own 3D prints using TinkerCAD, a beginner, user-friendly 3D modeling program you can access from any browser! We’ll show you the basics of how the program works by creating a custom object. Once completed, you’ll have the option to have your object printed at the library for free! This event will be virtual over Zoom. For grades 5-12.

Super Smash Bros Drop In: Thursday, December 8 at 2pm. Spend the early release afternoon playing some Super Smash Bros at the library! We'll have one console going, but feel free to bring your own switch while you wait to play. This is to gauge interest in a larger Super Smash Tournament, so please tell your friends! For grades 5-12.

Boys Run the Riot by Keiko Gaku - Ryo knows he’s transgender and doesn’t have anyone he feels comfortable telling. One day, while out shopping, Ryo observes transfer student Jin picking up the same clothes he likes. Jin and Ryo create a proposal to start their own fashion brand and create apparel that helps everyone feel comfortable in their own skin.
