CT Summer at the Museum Program

The CT Summer at the Museum is back and invites Connecticut children age 18 and under plus one accompanying Connecticut resident adult to visit participating museums free of charge.

Tickets must be reserved online for this program and are only valid for afternoons, 1-4pm. Limited tickets available. Tickets will be released every Friday for the upcoming week. Click below for complete details.

Friday Dollar Night
Friday, August 5, 5-8pm
Come enjoy an affordable Friday night at the Museum due to the generosity of Electric Boat Employees Community Service Association. Admission is $1 per person for everyone over 1 year old. Pre-registration not required.

Sub Science: Geology & Oceanology!
Tuesday, August 9

Summer Science continues with this special class from our friends at the Submarine Force Museum! Students will have some learning fun as they explore the worlds of geology & oceanology.

Two classes to choose from:
10:30-11:00: For children grades Pre-K to 2nd
11:30-12:00: For children grades 3rd to 5th

Free. Pre-registration required. Space is limited.
Museum admission required.

Summer Science Days are back!

Summer Science Days
Tuesday-Friday, 9:30am-4pm
Join us for a summer filled with science, learning and wonder! In July and August, we’ll be exploring a different science each week with demonstrations and hands-on activities. You can even take the learning home with a complimentary book.
All activities are FREE with Museum admission.

Chemistry Week
August 2-5
Children explore states of matter by mixing household items to create fun reactions or new compounds! Visitors will participate in such activities as color mixing, water molecule attraction, the mystery of Nano Sand, the Exploding Geyser, and Rocket Reactions.

Geology & Oceanology Week
August 9-12
This sizzling program explores the power of electricity and magnetism through Snap Circuits, magnetic rings and more! Have a hair-raising experience with electricity in our exciting Van de Graaff generator demonstrations. We’ll even try to harvest electricity from everyday foods!

Meteorology Week
August 16-19
This week visitors will learn about different aspects of weather and the water cycle. Guests will test cloud formation through our Investigating Clouds Experiment. Children will also explore different types of extreme weather like lightening and tornadoes. Other activities include making a windsock and creating a water cycle craft to take home.

Construction Engineering Week
August 23-26
Let’s get building! This week is full of physics concepts such as force and motion, gravity, and simple machines. Visitors will explore Newton’s Laws of Motion by making their own balloon car. Let’s not forget about creating a Tegu masterpiece or building a shelter from our Thinker Linkers!

East Lyme Beach Pass available for check-out
Does your day include a visit to one of our town beaches? Niantic Children's Museum visitors* can use the Museum's beach parking pass for a 2-hour beach visit. Members may call ahead to check availability. Museum guests*, check front desk during your visit. More ways to have fun at the shore!
