Arts and Entertainment

March 30, 2023

From: Ocean County Library

TOMS RIVER – Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy is widely used to help individuals with autism pursue lives of independence. Parsippany-based Step Up Family Services will present an overview during the Ocean County Library’s 2023 Autism Resources Fair, 10 AM until 3 PM in the Toms River Branch.

Anne Marie Harris, Board Certified Behavioral Analyst for Step Up Family Services, will conduct the presentation at 1:15 PM in the Hometown Dairy room on the Branch’s upper level.

The organization serves developmentally-delayed youths up to age 21 with in-home ABA services, social skills groups in its headquarters, and in-home or community counseling. In the coming months, its programs will extend to serve those aged five and under.

Presenters will explain how ABA therapy is conducted, and what providers do to support people with autism and their families. The discussion will touch on its founding principles, functions of behavior, and strategies designed to impart new skills that can help learners and their families reach their goals while diminishing potentially obstructive behaviors.

The Autism Resources Fair is sponsored by the Ocean County Library Foundation. Registration is not required to attend this free event. To ensure seating for certain programs, registration at www.theoceancountylibrary.org/events is recommended.
