Welcome To Libby!

If you haven't been using it now is the time to get Libby. Libby is made possible by your local library and built with by OverDrive. Bestsellers and classics for adults and kids and so much more. The Libby app is the easiest way to get started with digital books, audiobooks, and magazines from your public library! Install Libby for Android, iOS, or Fire tablets from overdrive.com/apps/libby visit libbyapp.com in your Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or Edge browser.

 In Libby, follow the prompts to find your library and sign in with a valid library card. Browse your library’s collection and borrow a title. You can have up to 6 items on loan at a time and up to 10 holds at a time. Happy reading!

Library of Things...

We have added a few new THINGS recently. 

Is your car check engine light on? Then borrow our code reader and find out what code is. It's easy to look up your make and model and the code online and find out what the trouble may be. 

The Fisher Price Code-a-pillar is a fun toy that teaches kids coding by making the code-a-pillar follow the commands given.

Did you DVD player die but you still want to have a movie marathon? We have mini DVD player to borrow that will plug right in to your TV at home. OR if you are traveling borrow the portable one for your car. And YES, we still have a lot of DVDs to borrow.

We will be closed Labor Day Weekend Friday, September 2 through Monday, September 5.

Do computers intimidate you? Do you know someone who might benefit from some one-on-one instruction? This is a great class for beginners. Register for one class or all of them by calling 508-695-1784 or by registering online.
Limit of 4 people per class.
Topics will include: Basic Mouse and Keyboard Skills, Internet Basics Saving Files to the Computer and Finding Them, and an Creating an Email Account.
Held in the Library Conference Room.

Expert reading recommendations from NoveList make finding your next book easier than ever. NoveList Plus includes both fiction and nonfiction titles for all ages.

Annual Book Character Pumpkin Decorating Contest to benefit the Living Bread Food Pantry in Plainville. 

Bring in your decorated pumpkin by Wednesday, October 12. Please do not cut real pumpkins. Using fake pumpkins is OK. Get your creative juices going! All ages can participate: adults, kids and teens! 

Voting with a canned good will take place between October 13 and 27 to benefit the Food Pantry. The winning pumpkin will take home a $20 Dunkin gift card and a Library tote bag from the Friends of the Plainville Public Library, Inc. 

Do you enjoy painting with watercolors?
 
This group is for adult and teen watercolor painters, all levels welcome, to gather together while painting your own projects. We will provide water jars and some brushes and pre-dried palettes at no cost.
 
Join us on Wednesday afternoons for a relaxed painting session where we can share techniques, ideas, tips and projects. Feel free to bring with you your personal supplies and what you're currently working on. Or for a nominal donation watercolor paper is available. Please note that there will be no instruction given. Donate Crafting Supplies to SWAP
Through September 7 
Donate: Bring your craft supplies at the front desk of the Library, during regular library hours. Be sure to pick up your swap ticket when you donate.
Swap tickets gain early entry to the swap on Saturday September 17 at 9:00am
Nothing to donate? Stop by Saturday, September 17 from 10:00 - 1:00pm and help yourself. Donations will be accepted to fund craft programs for adults and children at the Plainville Public Library.
NOTE: We cannot accept open liquids such as paints, chemicals and glues.
All supplies not taken by public will be used by the library for programs, donated to charity, or recycled.

Melissa Campbell leads a book discussion at the Plainville Senior Center once a month. All are welcome to attend. Books in large print and regular format are available at the Library to checkout.
