Students who shine at the Quick

Each year, the Quick welcomes thousands of students through our doors for orientations, lectures, performances, and student-led programs. In addition, the Quick employs over 50 students annually as interns and front and back of house staff to ensure our patrons have a welcoming experience every time they come through our doors. The Quick wouldn’t function as well as we do without our students and our staff is always eager to work with University students to ensure they gain leadership skills, mentorship opportunities, and have impactful experiences with access to a global community.

With this in mind, we wanted to take a moment to highlight just a few of the amazing students we’ve worked with over the last year who were recently inducted to the Zeta of Connecticut chapter of Phi Beta Kappa, the nation’s oldest and most prestigious academic honor society. Election to the Zeta of Connecticut chapter is based on academic standing (top 10 percent of the class), evidence of broad intellectual curiosity, independent work and thought, outstanding work in the liberal arts and sciences, and good character. Membership is restricted to students who complete most of their coursework in the liberal studies curriculum; typically, students pursuing BA or BS degrees in the College of Arts and Sciences.

Student highlights:

Genuine Skill F. Salcedo has served as the part-time Events Manager for the Quick since summer 2021 and has worked tirelessly to train and guide her peers in front of house management. Genuine received her Bachelor of Science in Psychology with a minor in English and Women, Gender & Sexuality Studies and served as an active member of student clubs while also maintaining internships throughout her time at Fairfield.

Julia Higgins served as the Quick’s Marketing and Communications intern for the 2022-23 school year and managed projects including social media campaigns, email content, press releases, and student engagement. Julia received her Bachelor of Arts in Art History with minors in Marketing and Studio Art.

We congratulate them and the additional 35 students who were inducted to Phi Beta Kappa.
