Beat the Heat is a 2-day event where professional BBQ teams compete for 15k in cash prizes. Held annually in Alamosa, Colorado, teams travel from all over the country to compete. There is a People’s Choice category which allows eventgoers to taste BBQ from professional teams and vote for their favorite.

?Beat the Heat has a wide range of activities for everyone. In addition to tasting People’s Choice BBQ, eventgoers can compete in the Cornhole Tournament, let their kids do the cooking in the Kid’s Q and run in the Hogwaller Mud Run. Plus we added a Craft Beer Tasting. Don’t forget, there’s live music, yard games, food vendors for you to enjoy!

10:00 am: Hogwaller Mud Run-$30
Beat the Heat with the coolest Mud Run around! The Hogwaller Mud Run is a muddy run along the banks of the Rio Grande, with 8 obstacle courses. The all-ages race finishes with a splash on a giant slip and slide.

11:00am: People's Choice Sampling-$20
People's Choice is the best way to get your hands on mouthwatering, award winning BBQ. $20 will get you 10 sample tokens and one voting token. Each sample ticket is good for a 2 oz sample of KCBS style professionally prepared BBQ. Once you've had your fill, take your voting token back to your favorite team!

2:00pm - 5:00pm: Square Peg Beer Fest-$30
Beat the Heat with Craft Beer! Sample craft beer from a variety of regional breweries, and chat with the brewers. Be sure to also grab BBQ samples so you can pick your favorite BBQ & Brew Pairing!
