St. Ann's Warehouse - Little Amal Arrives This Week

Dear Americantown,

Last October, I had a stunning experience I have to share with you - and with New York City. I walked with Little Amal, a 12-foot tall puppet of a 10-year-old refugee girl from Syria, who journeyed over 6,000 miles across Europe in “search of her mother.” Along the way, she met world leaders including the Pope, the mayors of London and Lviv and a million people who welcomed her as a globally recognized emblem of human rights.

Her message: Don’t forget us!

Message received. I could not forget her and fervently believed we needed Amal here.  On Wednesday, September 14th, the journey of Little Amal Walks NYC begins when she arrives at JFK Terminal 4! She will walk in all five boroughs through October 2nd. Amal offers hope and elicits empathy and joy, delivering a profound social justice story without uttering a word. And, in a beautiful collaboration with artists, cultural and community-based organizations, we are responding in kind with a massive, citywide engagement of free public art!

Follow Amal's journey.
