POP YS Con is back!

Formerly known as Kids First, POP YS Con is a two-day, biennial conference about all things youth services. This year’s conference will be held April 8-9 at the Gateway Hotel and Conference Center in Ames.

If you - or your youth staff - have a great program, service or concept for youth or teens that you're passionate to speak about; consider submitting a proposal for Pop YS Con 2024! Our Call For Proposals Form is now open!

If you or your youth staff would like to present, but aren't sure where to start, here are some topic suggestions:

 - Intellectual freedom
 - Collection development audit
 - Family programming
 - Programs you've created that have taken off
 - School-age programming
 - Teen programming and services
 - Storytime programs/book selections for babies, toddlers, and preschoolers
 - Social media engagement
 - Partnerships and outreach ideas

The Call for Proposals Form must be completed and submitted by 4:00 p.m. on February 12. Those who are selected to present will receive $20 off their registration for both days, or $10 off a single day attendance. If you have any questions, please contact Janeé at [email protected].

Libraries Are Forever - ILOC 2024

On Thursday, January 25, 2024, the ILOC conference will encourage attendees to consider sustainable operations, long-term outcomes, and positive community differences the library makes. Throughout the day, we will consider these topics, and more!:

 - Sustainability in building operations (i.e. “green” improvements)
 - Ongoing partnerships and library collaborations
 - Positive interactions with other city services or departments
 - Programs that are making a noticeable impact in your community
 - Sustainable and alternative funding options
 - Innovative practices in strategic planning

ILOC features keynote speakers and breakout sessions throughout the day, including a special event in the evening for library trustees. Can't attend all day? No problem! Come into Zoom whenever and wherever you can. The conference is free and you can come and go as you please.
