The fifth season of In the Foreground: Conversations on Art & Writing, presented by the Clark’s Research and Academic Program, launches today! The podcast explores the role of art in society, how knowledge is shared (or obscured), and the way histories are made and unmade. Each episode offers a lively, in-depth look into the life and mind of a scholar or artist working with art historical or visual material.

This new season features interviews with artists Mary Lum, Sergei Tcherepnin, and Tsedaye Makonnen, and historians Donette Francis and Sarah Hamill.

Past guests have included historians Svetlana Alpers, Darby English, Joseph Koerner, and Steven Nelson and artists such as Lorraine O’Grady, Mieke Bal, Maria Magdalena Campos-Pons, and Christina Kubisch.
