Sugar Land Video Team Again Named Best in Texas

Sugar Land, TX – The city of Sugar Land’s video production team recently won eight state awards, including three best of Texas finishes, for efforts to make local government more accessible and transparent.

The Texas Association of Telecommunications Officers and Advisors recognized Digital Communications Manager Jake Schnitzer, Media Producer Roman Perez and Media Producer Habib Dacak, all of the Office of Communications, for some of the best work in Texas. They won seven TATOA awards last year.

The TATOA awards showcase excellence in video programming in Texas and are among the most prestigious honors in government communications. In 2022, TATOA received a record number of submissions with 314 entries from 31 cities across Texas. 
Schnitzer, Perez and Dacak took home the following recognitions:
  • Sugar Land’s “Back To My Neighborhood App” video won a first place in the Public Education category. An “Unexpected Weather” video landed first in Use of Humor and a New Employee Orientation video grabbed a first place in Instruction/training.
  • A second-place finish was earned for a “Hands On- Management Assistant Recruitment” video in the Profile of an Organization category.
  • Three third-place awards were received for “Frank The City Psychic” in the Public Education category and “Don’t Be A Zombie” and “iSWMM” in Public Health/Public Safety.
Sugar Land also received two honorable mention awards for an animated promotional video on the city’s annual employee ping pong tournament. Visit www.sugarlandtx.gov/2022TATOA to see the winning entries.

TATOA is a professional non-profit association dedicated to educating and training its membership in the development, regulation and administration of cable television, internal communications networks and other telecommunications systems in order to more efficiently serve the local government organization and the general public.
