The Texas Onion Fest celebrates the development of the world famous Texas 1015 Onion which was developed in Weslaco and is also the State Vegetable of Texas. The name of the 1015 onion came from the suggested planting date, October 15. Texas Onion Fest is sponsored by the Weslaco Area Chamber of Commerce. The festivities include live entertainment on two stages, the exciting Onion Eating Contest, delicious food, commercial booths, kiddie rides, Dancing Horses, 1015 Market, Car Show, cooking demonstrations, and so much more.

Attractions:
Dancing Horses
Don't miss the performance by the Dancing Horses. The performance features riders trained horses that dance to traditional Mexican music.

Healthy Family Area
The Healthy Family area features all kinds of useful health information as well as booths and various health screenings are available as well.

Kids Zone
Kids will have a blast and burn off their energy at the Kids Zone, as they enjoy different activities and rides. Including a petting zoo.

Car Show
A line-up of custom SUVs and trucks, classic cars and trucks will be on display for all to see.

Onion Eating Contests
It’s the famous onion eating contest.  All ages are encouraged to compete. Categories include youth, adult and beauty queens. Stop by the Family Stage to enter or just sit back and watch.

Culinary Demonstrations
Stop by the Culinary Center to check out food demos featuring the Sweet Texas 1015 Onion.
