Glen Cove, NY - The Holocaust Memorial and Tolerance Center of Nassau County (HMTC) is thrilled to announce the appointment of Christopher Probst as its new Education Director. With his extensive academic background and impressive teaching career, Dr. Probst brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to our organization. He starts his new position at the beginning of September.

Christopher holds a doctorate in the history of the Holocaust from the esteemed Royal Holloway University of London. His research and educational contributions in this field have been highly regarded, reflecting a deep understanding of the historical context, complexities, and implications of the Holocaust. “His academic achievements demonstrate a commitment to preserving the memory of this tragic event while promoting tolerance and understanding,” states Alan Mindel, HMTC Chair. “He further understands our charge to teach people to be Upstanders in our community and fight antisemitism.”

Dr. Probst's career as a professor of history at institutions such as Washington University in St. Louis showcases his dedication to educating and inspiring students. His ability to engage diverse audiences and foster critical thinking is evident through his teaching methodologies and student testimonials.  

As the Education Director, Dr. Probst will be responsible for creating and implementing curricula, organizing workshops and seminars, and overseeing the development of educational resources. His deep understanding of the Holocaust and other genocides, combined with his passion for teaching, will undoubtedly contribute to the growth and expansion of our center's educational offerings. The HMTC Board is looking forward to witnessing his transformative impact on their organization and the community they serve.
