From: Dodger Stadium

WHAT: On Saturday, October 8th, the Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation (LADF) is breaking ground on Dodgers Dreamfields 59 and 60 at Edward Vincent Jr. Park in the City of Inglewood. The $1 million investment, which includes a baseball and softball field, upgraded irrigation, playing surfaces, fencing, and scoreboards reminiscent of Dodger Stadium, will support youth ages 5-18 and provide a safe place for families to gather and be active in their own neighborhoods. The project kicks off on Saturday morning with remarks from the program’s supporters, including LADF leadership, City of Inglewood, and project sponsors, along with Dodger players Hanser Alberto and Evan Phillips. The event will conclude with a shovel ceremony.

Project sponsors include LADF, the City of Inglewood, Security Benefit, Annenberg Foundation, LA84 Foundation, San Manuel Band of Mission Indians, Delta Air Lines, LeagueApps, Nike, and the Helen and Will Webster Foundation.

Youth from LADF’s sports based youth development program, Dodgers Dreamteam, Animo Inglewood Charter High School, St. Mary’s High School and Inglewood Unified will be present to celebrate this new project.

Dodgers Dreamfields 59 and 60 support a demand for additional youth baseball and softball space in the City of Inglewood and builds on LADF’s commitment to the community with the launch of Dodgers Dreamteam, formerly Dodgers RBI, in 2016 which now serves over 450 youth annually and the construction of two Dodgers Dreamfields at Darby Park in 2017. LADF also launched its Science of Baseball curriculum in Inglewood Unified School District in 2018 and has trained 35 teachers to implement the curriculum in 3rd-8th grade classrooms. In 2019, LADF hosted a STEM Field Day at Darby Park for students from Bennet-Kew Elementary, Worthington Elementary, and Woodworth Elementary Schools. In 2020, LADF hosted a drive thru food distribution at Morningside High School and provided 1,000 at-home Sound Body Sound Mind PE kits to families.
