Be Our (Victorian) Valentine: Two Fun Events

SAY IT WITH FLOWERS: A Valentine Craft Workshop (In-Person)

Friday, February 3 at 6pm ET (wine/beer/cocktail cash bar and light refreshments available at 5:30pm)

Saturday, February 4 at 1pm ET

People in the Victorian Era knew what greeting card companies these days have forgotten: emotions are complicated–especially love! Any candy heart or last-minute card can say “Be mine,” but using the Victorian language of flowers, you can send more complex sentiments like “Have confidence in me and hope in love,” “Let our friendship be the cure for your heart ache,” or even “I love you, my child, unconditionally–and with endless patience.”

In this workshop, you’ll learn about the Victorian language of flowers and then use it to craft three paper Valentines that send exactly the message you want–platonic, familial, or romantic!

Cost: $25 per person. All materials provided, including the special envelopes and postage required to mail each Valentine! REGISTER HERE.

FINAL WEEKS!

Now on View Through January 31 in our Museum Center!

The Printmakers’ Network of Southern New England (PNSNE) is a group of contemporary printmakers who for thirty years have worked collaboratively to present themed exhibits, portfolios and educational opportunities to the public. Reflecting different methods of print creation, these artists have challenged themselves to select quotes from Twain’s exhaustive writings to inspire their own work. What has resulted is a masterful exhibit of contemporary printmaking that includes art that links the past with the present, whether by showing the connections between Twain’s work and current issues of social justice, or by connecting Twain’s views on home, health and the human condition with views of our own time.

Admission is included with your house tour ticket or with a Museum Center Only Admission. LEARN MORE.
