Aurora, IL - The Venue, a live music performance space in Aurora, is the recipient of a national grant that will assist the music room in providing an enhanced experience for visiting musicians, staff, and patrons.

The Venue, located at 21 S. Broadway in downtown Aurora, is one of 31 grant recipients nationwide to receive funding from Live Music Society, a nonprofit with the mission to recognize and protect small venues and listening rooms across the US, so live music can remain accessible to all.

Live Music Society awarded The Venue with $6,000 for adding bass traps and acoustic panels, replacing some moving lights, and purchasing additional backline equipment.

“These additions will address practical needs related to elevating the live music experience at The Venue,” said Karen Fouts, executive director of Fox Valley Music Foundation, the nonprofit organization that operates The Venue.

According to Live Music Society, the Toolbox grant provides critical support for practical projects they would not have otherwise been able to undertake. The grants are intended to enhance the live music experience for artists, staff, and patrons, and support the long-term growth and health of grantee venues.

“The grant will enable us to complete the acoustics in The Venue to enhance our live performances to provide the best experience possible for our patrons and for our performers,” said Dave Glynn, president of Fox Valley Music Foundation.

“Student performers and emerging artists will also be exposed to the amazing sound and feel of a state of the art performance space and it will have a lasting impact on all who attend,” Glynn added.
