This Week at the Jones Library

As spring draws near, we are getting more winter weather!  Please remember to check our website for scheduling updates caused by winter weather - library closures, delays, and programming changes will be announced there.  We've highlighted some upcoming events below, as well as other updates.  You can always visit our website for more information, or to connect with our collections and resources.

Today's Book Launch Rescheduled

The book launch and author event scheduled for this morning (Saturday, March 4 at 11:00 am) at the Munson Memorial Library in South Amherst has been rescheduled due to expected winter weather.

The new date for this event is Saturday, April 1.

Sing with Your Baby

Wednesday, March 8 from 10:30 - 11:30 am

Join Wendy in the Woodbury Room to share songs and fingerplays, followed by time for children to explore musical instruments and socialize. This program is recommended for children ages 0 - 5 and their caregivers. We will meet every Wednesday through April 26th.

National Park Service Lunchtime Lecture

Wednesday, March 8 from 12:00 - 1:00 pm

Zoom in from anywhere for this weekly virtual lunchtime lecture series during March, focusing on National Park Service units here in Massachusetts. This week's presentation entitled "Past and Present Here Unite: An Introduction to Longfellow House - Washington's Headquarters NHS". The program will be recorded and all registrants will receive the recording via email. So, please feel free to register even if you can't attend the live event! Learn more and register.

This event is a collaboration of a number of Massachusetts libraries, organized by the Tewksbury Public Library.

Teen Lounge

Wednesday, March 8 from 2:00 - 4:00 pm
Friday, March 10 from 3:30 - 5:00 pm

We have two Teen Lounges this week! The first one is on your ARPS Early Release day and then our regular one on Friday afternoon. We'll be playing some Super Smash Bros and Mario Kart on the big screen. There will also be some crafts and board games to enjoy. Come hang out with friends or make some new ones! No reservation required. This program is for ages 11 to 17.

50+ Job Seekers Networking Group

Wednesday, March 8 from 6:00 - 8:00 pm

Are you a 50+ job seeker? Build your job search tool kit with this online networking group! This week's topic is Resumes - Part 1. Attend either morning (1st and 3rd Wednesday) or evening (2nd and 4th Wednesday) sessions - whatever works best for you. Job seekers can join the group at any time. Learn more and register!

Delayed Opening

Thursday, March 9 at 1:00 pm

The Jones Library will open at 1:00 pm due to professional development training for town employees that morning.

There are no changes to branch hours.

Please join us for the first program of our On the Same Page - Amherst annual community read!  Join us for a documentary that chronicles the aftermath of Hurricane Maria and the fraught relationship between the US and Puerto Rico.  Learn more about On the Same Page.

March in the Burnett Gallery

Stop by the Burnett Gallery this month to enjoy a joint exhibit. There is an exhibit of "Fine Art and Nature Photography" by Ellen X. Silverberg, as well as an exhibit entitled "The Pond-Dwellers or Contra-Corriente – Art by Pamela Acosta".

Graphic Novel Book Club

Join us on Tuesday, March 21 from 4:00 - 5:00 pm to discuss Measuring Up by Lily LaMotte and Ann Xu. We'll also do a fun craft related to the themes of the book! This program is for ages 9 - 12. To learn more and register, email us!
