Parent Engagement Night – The Middle College at GTCC High Point is giving away turkeys to 50 families. The event is a coordinated effort to get parents and guardians involved with their child’s education and school. During this event, parents will be participating in conferences led by their student and be entertained by our students in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month and Native American Heritage Month.  At the student led conferences, students will discuss various pieces of work samples and their progress report for the 3rd Quarter. Afterwards, parents will give their student feedback and discuss how they can support their students as we move through the rest of this semester and school year. Those who attend have been asked to bring non-perishable food items and gently used coats to donate to the school community. This event begins at 5:30 pm.

Mobile Immunization Clinic – The Guilford County Department of Public Health has scheduled a second round of mobile immunization clinics for students. State law requires 7th graders to have one dose of the Tdap and MCV vaccines. 12th graders are required to have a booster dose of the MCV vaccine. Students who do not show proof of the required vaccinations are excluded from class. Students attending the school-based immunization clinics must have a signed permission form. Students who participate in neighboring high and middle schools and need immunizations are encouraged to attend.

Giving Season Story Ideas

Middle School Food Drive- Students at Northeast Middle are participating in a canned food drive to help school community members for the Thanksgiving holiday. Students collected and raised more than 2,000 cans of food, and families will pick up the meals on the 18th.

High School Food Drive- Students at Eastern High have been collecting food items to provide thanksgiving meal boxes for 20 families in the Eastern High Community.

Supporting Teacher Projects- Donors Choose is an excellent way to support GCS teachers this giving season. More than a hundred teachers have listed projects families and organizations can support. GCS is a district partner with Donors Choose. The Site has helped facilitate funding of more than 4,000 projects for our educators.
