Three More GCS Students Earn National Merit Scholarships
Students will receive $2,500 toward the college of their choice

Three GCS students were selected in the second round of the National Merit Scholarships, which were announced this week. The students are:

- Jack Fresina, Grimsley High, who plans to study environmental policy;

- Jason Creech, Southern High, who plans to study veterinary medicine; and

- John Griffin, Northern High, who plans to study engineering.

Each student will receive $2,500 from the National Merit Scholarship Corporation to be used at the college of their choice.

National Merit $2,500 Scholarship winners are the National Merit Finalists in each state judged to have the strongest combination of accomplishments, skills and potential for success in rigorous college studies. The number of winners named in each state is proportional to the state’s percentage of the nation’s graduating high school seniors.

In April, Early College at Guilford senior Eric Wang received a corporate-sponsored National Merit Scholarship. College-sponsored scholarships will be announced in June and July.
