Holiday Hours

December 25th - December 27th & January 1st - January 2nd

The library will be closed on December 25th through December 27th and January 1st and 2nd for the upcoming holidays. If you need to return books, our drop box is always open. It can be found between the library and the Syd Blackmarr Arts Center next door. We will reopen on Wednesday, January 3rd.

December Programing

All Month Long

Get ready for a month full of festivities here at the Tifton- Tift County Public Library! Find fun programs for you and for the family all month long. December is the perfect month to cozy up with a perfect mug of hot cocoa. We have you covered with our next family craft event! Stop by on December 18th and decorate your very own Christmas mug! Need something to decorate your tree with? Join us and make sequin ornaments on December 19th. Don’t forget to satisfy your sweet tooth. The teen cookie decorating competition goes down on December 22nd. If any of these programs piqued your interest, then stop by the library for more information! There’s plenty more programing to come so stay tuned!

Weekly Calendar of Events

Monday,
December 18th

 - 11 a.m. - Reading Rascals: This program is a weekly storytime for littles that includes stories, songs, and a mess free craft. Caregivers must accompany their little ones. Hosted by our lovely Ms. Grace, make sure to stop by and have some fun!

 - 4-7 p.m. - Family Craft Mug Decorating: Santa needs a nice mug of cocoa with his cookies on Christmas Eve. Come and decorate a one-of-a-kind mug for the big guy himself! Limit one mug per family. No registration required, but supplies are limited, so get there early!

 - 5 p.m. - Teen Crafternoon: Stop by the library to enjoy a calm afternoon of crafting. This month, teens will be creating ornaments to decorate for the holidays! This program is designed for teens ages 12-18, and no registration is required. Feel free to drop in!

 - 5-7 p.m. - Clases de Ingles: Join us at the Tifton Library for free ESOL classes held every Monday and Thursday! This program is designed for Hispanic participants to learn English. All are welcome!

Tuesday,
December 19th

 - 5 p.m. - Trim the Tree: It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas, so it’s time to deck the halls! Join us for our latest Christmas themed adult craft. This week we will be making a classic DIY ornament made out of sequins and Styrofoam balls! Make sure to register, and we’ll see you there!

 - 5 p.m. - Robloxians: Welcome to Robloxians, a program for teens ages 12 – 18! This is for all teens who enjoy Roblox to hangout, discuss, and co-op play Roblox together. This program will be supervised, and no registration is necessary. Stop by and join the fun!

 - 5 p.m. - Financial Literacy Class: Created by the Financial Literacy Initiative, this class hopes to help members of the community make good credit decisions and gain a better understanding of debt, assets, and answer any other financial related questions they may have. There is also a storytime, crafts, and games for parents who wish to bring their little ones.

Wednesday,
December 20th

 - 11 a.m. - Let's Play! Toddler Freeplay: In this program, kids ages 0–5 (and their caregivers, of course) can explore different sensory stations, hone fine and gross motor skills through interactive play, and make new friends in a fun environment. You can come and go as you please, but caregivers must stay with their little ones.

 - 2-6 p.m. - Christmas Crafternoon: Santa Clause is coming to town! That means it’s time to hang up the silver bells and rock around the Christmas tree! We invite you and your little ones to our festive Christmas Crafternoon! This program is for kids aged 0-11 to make many different Christmas crafts including making ornaments, decorating paper gingerbread houses, and giving reindeers their special red noses. No registration required!

 - 5 p.m. - Library Sew-cial: The sewing fun resumes with our beloved sewing program. Join our very talented instructors, Ms. Robin and Ms. Vickie, as they continue walking us through creating a Memory Bear out of fabric from our loved one's belongings. Registration is full, so keep a look out for similar programs coming soon.

Thursday,
December 21st

 - 5 p.m. - Anime Club: Teens are welcome to come attend this program, watch some anime, and have fun! This week, we are watching the film Spirited Away. No registration is necessary.

 - 5-7 p.m. - Clases de Ingles: Join us at the Tifton Library for free ESOL classes held every Monday and Thursday! This program is designed for Hispanic participants to learn English. All are welcome!

 - 5:30 p.m. - Hora De Cuentos en Español: ¡Ven a visitarnos para nuestra hora de cuentos en español! ¡Los niños de 0 a 5 años y sus cuidadores disfrutarán de historias, canciones y más con nuevos amigos!

 - Spanish Story Time: Come visit us for our Spanish Story Time! Children ages 0-5 and their caregivers will enjoy stories, songs, and more with new friends!

December 22nd

 - 10 a.m. - Kids Paint-n-Sip: Get ready for a very special holiday treat! Ms. Karen will be leading a special directed paint class featuring hot cocoa, cookies and a directed painting of a seasonal canvas. Little artists will be bringing their creations home, just in time for the holidays! Registration is currently full, so keep a look out for similar events in the future!

 - 4 p.m. - Cookie Decorating War: Prepare to get messy with our latest program! Teens will get together and battle it out on who has the best decorating skills! So get ready to show up and show off! May the best cookie win!
