New Kits and Passes

Available Now

Not only does the Tifton- Tift County Public Library provide books and an endless amount of digital resources; we also provide passes to parks all across the state, and some experimental kits for you to try at home! Here are a few of our newest ones:

The Computer Museum of America: Screens are everywhere. The fact that we carry them in our pockets daily is something that we could only dream of less than a century ago. Take a stroll back to the past and explore the Computer Museum of America in Roswell, Georgia! This museum features technology dating back to the turn of the century up to the current year. Notable pieces in the museum are the numerous super computers, an Enigma Machine, Apollo 11 computers, rotary and mobile phones, video games, advertisements, and plenty of other items that are sure to bring a flood of memories. Our pass is good for 4 free admissions to the museum, and has a circulation period of 7 days, with 1 renewal.

The University of Georgia’s Radon Education Kit: Did you know that Radon is the 2nd leading cause of Lung Cancer in the United States, after smoking? Radon occurs naturally when uranium breaks down to form radon. Uranium is often found in high concentrations in granite rocky soils, as are common in northern Georgia counties. As radon is released into the soil, it can enter buildings through the foundation and well water, eventually building to dangerous levels. Luckily, Georgia Public Libraries offer test kits free to our patrons. The kit comes with 2 QR codes: one which leads to a How To video, and the other leads to a website to log results. The Radon Education kit can be checked out for 14 days, with 2 renewals, as radon testing takes approximately 2 weeks.

The Go Fish Education Center: Want to explore the many natural resources this great state has to offer? Then the Go Fish Education Center is perfect for you. The Go Fish Education Center is part of the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, Wildlife Resources Division. The Go Fish Education Center takes visitors on an educational journey through Georgia’s watersheds to learn about our diverse aquatic wildlife, their natural habitats and the impacts of water pollution. Beyond that, GFEC serves as a great resource of fishing information for any level of angler—where to go, what to use and when. This pass allows up to 4 free admissions to the center, and can be checked out for 7 days, with one renewal.
