It’s that festive time of year where food definitely takes center stage, especially pie. So, don’t be afraid to take whisks and take part in the Town’s annual Pie Bake Off Saturday, Nov. 5.

The baking competition is open to all local bakers and will take place from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at The Millhouse at Philip S. Miller Park.

There are two categories for judging – fruit and non-fruit pies. There is also a youth category for all those junior bakers. Pies will be judged on appearance, crust, filling, and overall flavor and taste. Prizes will be awarded to the winners.

One entry is permitted per person. There is a $30 entry fee, and the event will be limited to 25 contestants per category. Registration is available at CRgov.com/Pies.

Bakers should drop off two identical pies at The Millhouse between 10:30 and 11 a.m. on Saturday. One pie will be for the judges, the other will be for general consumption. Judging will begin at 11 a.m.

Entries must include a fully typed recipe with a list of ingredients and instructions. Pies must be brought in disposable bakeware. Final pies may not contain raw or uncooked eggs. Also, no special handling is permitted once the pie has been dropped off (refrigeration, heating, etc.).

Don’t have any baking skills? Come to the competition to try pies by the slice. More information is at CRgov.com/Pies.
