Democrats have failed to put North Carolina in play for President Biden in 2024. 

They’ve brought him in to visit. Brought him in to raise money. Brought both he and Vice President Harris in at the same time. Brought First Lady Jill Biden. Even brought him to the same city where President Trump was going to hold a rally. They’ve also signed some leases for offices. 

It’s fair to ask, after all that, what is the state of the race in the Tar Heel State?

Biden is behind.

In fact, since March, Biden has seen a decline in support from North Carolinians despite Democrats making it known North Carolina was a priority.

Turns out that voters this year aren’t interested in four more years of Bidenomics, which are costing North Carolina families $1,000 more every month. 

Families are struggling with persistent inflation. Real wages remain lower than when Biden first took office, and the cost of living is becoming increasingly unaffordable.

Bidenomics has cost the middle class $2.4 trillion since March 2022 and the Fed has hiked interest rates to their highest level in 22 years -- making it harder for families to buy a home, finance a car, and pay off debt.

A recent state poll shows 66% of North Carolinians think things in the U.S. are on the wrong track and Republicans hold a 5-point lead on the generic ballot. 

Biden’s failed open border policies are also concerning for North Carolina voters. 

Customs and Border Protection (CBP) data shows 179,725 illegal immigrants were encountered attempting to cross the U.S.-Mexico border in April. For 38 straight months, monthly encounters have been higher than even the highest month seen under the previous administration. 

That’s on top of more than 9.6 million illegal immigrants who have crossed the border since Biden took office. Illicit drugs are flowing into the country at an alarming rate, with only 5 to 10 percent being intercepted as border officials struggle to contain the smuggling and fentanyl is now the leading cause of death for Americans age 18 to 45, with the number killed by the drug up 94% since 2019.

“For all their bravado of putting North Carolina in play in 2024, Democrats have spectacularly flamed out with a historically unpopular president and candidates woefully out of step with North Carolina families,” said NCGOP Communications Director Matt Mercer.
