UF/IFAS Extension : Free Living Shoreline Course

Pensacola & Perdido Bays Estuary Program, Florida Department of Environmental Protection, Santa Rosa County, National Fish and Wildlife Foundation, UF/IFAS Extension Santa Rosa County and Sea Grant Florida are offering a free living shoreline course March 7-8.

This two-day course, 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. both days, is designed for those looking to gain in-depth knowledge of the process of installing living shorelines (LSL). Marine contractors, landscape architects, property owners, and anyone interested in promoting living shorelines will gain valuable hands-on information. Topics covered range from the benefits of installing a living shoreline to cost-benefit analysis to permit applications, and include a field visit to a living shoreline site. Site visit(s) are yet to be confirmed and every attempt will be made to locate them within a 30-minute drive of the classroom location.

Course registration is complementary and funded by the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation as part of the “Living Shorelines Suitability Model for the Pensacola Bay System.” Registration includes instruction, site visit, manual, snacks, and lunches. Those interested in the course may register online at www.eventbrite.com/e/nw-florida-panhandle-living-shoreline-course-registration-529321413597.
