Gate City Light Award Nominations are Open! - Nominate your Favorite Nashua Nonprofit.

Each year, in honor of National Volunteer Week, the Nashua Mayor’s Volunteer Recognition Committee presents the Gate City Light Award. This award recognizes a Nashua organization and its volunteers for giving their time in the spirit of community and caring, and for making significant contributions to the people of Nashua.

Nominations for this award are open until March 29th. Anyone who loves a nonprofit located in Nashua or serving Nashua is encouraged to fill out the short survey at https://tinyurl.com/GateCityLight2023.

Respondents will answer questions like “What is your feel good/ takeaway story about this organization’s work in the community?” and “Why do you choose to support this organization (as a volunteer, advocate, or donor)?” This award is presented at the May 9th meeting of the Nashua Board of Aldermen.

In recent years, recipients have included United Way of Greater Nashua, YMCA of Greater Nashua, End 68 Hours of Hunger, Nashua Soup Kitchen and Shelter, Greater Nashua Habitat for Humanity.

Those filling out the survey are asked to provide thorough, detailed responses so that the award-granting committee can choose the best nonprofit to receive this award. When answering questions, keep in mind that reviewers are not likely to have prior knowledge of the organization/activities that you are writing about. Include specific details whenever possible and we encourage you to include a heartwarming & inspiring story about the organization.

Questions about this award should be addressed to Sara Ceaser, Committee Chair, at [email protected] or (603)864-0201.
