Greetings!

United Way of Greater Nashua (UWGN) celebrates all that you and the hundreds of other volunteers, advocates, and donors do everyday to progress the mission of UWGN to promote a higher quality of life in our communities. We are grateful you have joined the fight for the health, education, and financial stability of every person in the community. We couldn't do what we do without you.

Sincerely,

The United Way of Greater Nashua Staff

President’s Message

I hope that you are having a wonderful summer. For us at United Way the summer kicked off with an amazing Over the Edge Event and a massive food drive. We are now continuing into the summer with a school supply drive, gleaning event, and Skydiving event to help end youth homelessness. And it the fall we are already planning our 7th annual sleepout along with our first ever competitive Karaoke event at the Nashua Center for the Arts. As you can imagine, we are always asking for lots of volunteers to support all of this, and more, and we are deeply grateful to each of you who steps up to support us!

What has been a more recent focus for me is that we have been getting a large number of calls from members of the community struggling with services and facing serious issues. These calls, which each of us has fielded, have been characterized by fears of eviction and homelessness, mental health concerns, food insecurity, and lack of transportation resources. What strikes me is, and should be obvious to all, is that poverty is complicated and meeting basic needs truly takes a village. Our approach at United Way is to partner with organizations in the community which are best in class for providing resources. And we live in a very caring community. But it is tough. Many times I feel like the resources aren’t sufficient to the need and that the opportunities aren’t there to grab for many folks. But the calls and discussions are important and I want you to know that your generosity in supporting United Way makes it not only possible for us to support organizations which provide critical services, but it even makes it possible for us to just take the time to have the phone call. So my thought is simply to say a heartfelt thank you to YOU for your caring and support.

I hope you have a good rest of your summer and look forward to seeing you at an upcoming event! Blessings to you and your family,

Mike
