WE WILL BE DOING DIVERSE CASTING.  ACTORS OF COLOR ARE ENCOURAGED TO AUDITION.  ALL ROLES ARE OPEN.

An American masterpiece, this is a play of great depth, full of great roles, requiring actors who are willing to dig into a character and find the many layers.  It is strongly suggested that you be familiar with the play. 

Rehearsals will start mid-July.  The show opens Sept 9, 2022 for 2 weekends, with matinees both Sundays.

Cast Requirements: (All ages approximate, depending upon other casting. Age ranges are guides to the playable age of the characters, not necessarily the physical age of the actor). 

Maggie (Female mid-20s to mid-30s) - A pretty young woman with anxious lines in her face.  Maggie's deep loneliness and fear of loss drive her and  make her hard.

Brick (Male mid-20s to mid-30s) – An alcoholic ex-football-player.  Still slim and firm as a boy, with the cool air of detachment of someone who has given up the struggle.  But now and then, when disturbed, something flashes behind it, showing that at some deeper level he is far from peaceful.

Big Daddy (Male 65) – A man with a fierce, anxious look, moving carefully so as not to betray his weakness, especially to himself.  A big man; not necessarily physically large, but large in presence.

Big Mama (Female 60) –She is a stout woman with a riotous voice and booming laugh, always tense like a boxer.  Her age and size make her like an old bulldog, huffing and puffing.

Mae (Female 25-35) - An agitated "monster of fertility" who schemes with her husband Gooper to secure Big Daddy's estate.

Gooper (Male 28-40) - A successful corporate lawyer. Gooper is Daddy's eldest and least favored son. He deeply resents his parents' love for Brick.

Reverend Tooker (Male 35-70) - A tactless, opportunistic, and hypocritical guest at Big Daddy's birthday party.

Doctor Baugh (Male 35-70) – Big Daddy's physician, the keeper of family secrets.

The Children (Both genders, 6-12) - Mae and Gooper's children.
