Wanderer's Fall Fest 2023

Sports and Recreation

October 18, 2023

From: Wanderer's Fall Fest

Reunite with your fellow Wanderers and celebrate another successful trip season with us! We'll bask in autumn with an afternoon full of outdoor fun featuring a free community hike and mountain biking meet-up, followed by a reunion social at the Des Moines Biergarten with nature trivia, live music and vendors. PLUS, proceeds from Biergarten beer sales will benefit Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation, our favorite outdoor non-profit working to create more public and protected land in Iowa.

You don't have to have attended a Wander Women trip in 2023 to join - all Wanderers are welcome! Come reconnect with old friends and make some new ones during this fun-filled day featuring:

1:30 - 3 p.m.: Community hike - Join us for a casual hike around the equestrian trails at Water Works Park and bask in the peak fall color! Kids and leashed pets welcome! The hike will leave from and return to the Biergarten.

1:30 - 3 p.m.: Mountain bike meetup - Time to ride some dirt! Join Joy on a beginner-friendly mountain bike ride through the Greenwood trails. The ride will leave from and return to the Biergarten.

3 - 6 p.m.: Social and hangs - Can't make it to the hike or bike? No worries, just come hang! We'll be around all afternoon basking in the glory of friendship, nature and good times. Families welcome!

4:30 - 5:30 p.m.: Nature Trivia - What's the most common owl found in Iowa? What's Iowa's oldest state park? Find out these amazing facts and more as we square off in nature-themed trivia at the Biergarten! Winners will walk away with a WW prize package fit for any adventure.

3 - 6 p.m.: Vendors - Enjoy custom bouquets from Pepperharrow Farms, stock up on fall goods from Des Moines Mercantile, get your last of the season Wander Women merch and find out about Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation's work in Central Iowa and beyond!

This event is free for everyone, but if you're planning to attend the hike or bike, please register below so we know how many folks to expect!
