SECOND FRIDAY AT WATER STREET STUDIOS
14th Anniversary Membership Show
FRIDAY, Sept 8th 6-9pm

Join us for a special edition of Second Fridays at Water Street Studios, featuring food, music, demos, and more! This month marks our 14th anniversary, and we're celebrating with an exhibition of artwork from our talented member community. You'll have the chance to explore the creations of 45+ local artists working in various mediums across all three gallery spaces.

Make sure to visit the Holy Pierogi food truck located just outside our front door. Grab a drink at the bar in the 3D wing and enjoy ambient music by East Side Harp in the gallery. In the north classroom, you can explore an art sale hosted by the Artist Collective, while the south classroom features a jewelry making demonstration by Dan Connelly, a ceramics showcase from our clay makers, and a spin-the-wheel game for a chance to win prizes. Don't forget to keep an eye out for open studio doors, where you can meet and shop with our resident artists.

Admission is FREE and open to everyone. We look forward to seeing you there!

Exhibition runs from Friday, September 8th - Sunday, October 8th.

RSVP not required but appreciated!

Sept 19th & 26th, 4-6pm
Instructor Carly Palmer

Join us for a two-week, two-part workshop series as part of our "Personal Development For Artists" program, led by Resident Artist Carly Palmer. In this workshop, you'll deepen your creative practice, connect with your artistic journey, and learn to express your unique artist voice through a combination of writing prompts and intuitive art making. While this workshop won't focus on selling art or running an art business, it will prepare you for such endeavors by fostering a supportive and idea-generating environment. Participants are encouraged to share their work, fostering connections and community among artists.

Congratulations to Kane County Magazine’s Artist of the Month, Melissa Celaya! Melissa became a resident artist November of 2022 after visiting the gallery for the Aurora All Stars show. “When I realized it was exactly what I had been searching for, I immediately put my foot in the door and became a part of the community” says Melissa.

Her work is typically large scale with bold complimentary colors used to highlight the duality and polarity of the human experience as it interacts with society. “Each time I find myself working on larger scaled projects, pushing myself to work larger has brought on new challenges I did not expect”

See Melissa’s work at the Anniversary Show or follow her on Instagram @issaxartt. Stop by the front desk or click the button to read the full article.
