Ticonic Gallery is pleased to present Potluck, an exhibition centered on the work of Jenny Ibsen, a printmaker, ceramicist, storyteller, and restaurant worker based in Portland. Curated with Diana Tuite, this installation is centered on a tablescape and features contributions from collaborators Heather Flor Cron, Alana Dao, and Raquel P Miller. The metaphor of the potluck touches upon issues of care, sustenance and sustainability, and labor, and all of these themes will be explored through shared meals and conversations.

Art In The Park: Nature Collage

Castonguay Square

The collage illustrations by Alma Fullerton in the book Community Soup use natural objects like sticks, leaves, and grasses. Each collage she creates has textures that can look sometimes bumpy, smooth, rough, or soft. Come create textured collages with us, using natural objects and much more!

Please note the new location at Castonguay Square, the little park at the corner of Common and Main Street.

In the event of rain or extreme heat, Art in the Park will be indoors at the Paul J. Schupf Art Center.

Among the most anticipated films of 2023, Oppenheimer delivers on its ambitious promise. In telling the story of J. Robert Oppenheimer, who essentially developed the atomic bomb, phenom director Christopher Nolan (Memento, Tenet and the best Batman movies) takes us into the heart of ‘40s era America and the impossible question of formulating a weapon that could end WW2…but destroy the world. Cillian Murphy knocks it out of the park as the pressured Oppenheimer, along with a killer cast including Emily Blunt, Matt Damon, Florence Pugh, Robert Downey Jr., Rami Malek, Gary Oldman, and Kenneth Branagh. A true event.

So when he reluctantly tells neighbors Joyce (Jane Curtin) and Sandy (Harriett Sansom Harris) that a spaceship has landed in his backyard and he’s feeding its alien pilot, they don’t believe it…'til they see it. Mark Turtletaub’s (Gods Behaving Badly) totally winning new film is an offbeat, low-key pleasure, and a great vehicle for Kingsley, who underplays so well we forget he was once Gandhi and now are sure he’s just...Milton.

When Matisyahu first started touring to packed clubs more than eleven years ago, it was prior to the release of Live at Stubbs, the now Gold record, and prior to that record’s single “King without a Crown” reaching #1 on the alternative rock radio charts. His performances were a raw expression of his spirituality at that time and were supported by musicians who played a foundation of roots reggae augmented by the energy of a rock trio. Many early fans of Matisyahu will never forget when he joined Phish's frontman Trey Anastasio in leading his band through an improvisational display of beat boxing and lyrical gymnastics in front of a crowd of 80,000 people. It may have been unrefined, but Matisyahu’s passion for full band improvisation was laid bare.
