February at Wave Hill

Winter may still be holding on tight as February begins, but we are already feeling the arrival of spring in the gardens.

Indulge in that late-winter hibernating mood on Hibernators Weekend (Sat, Sun, Feb 4, 5). But be ready to embrace spring—how we ? the season!—with several wellness programs, a morning walk to admire our birds and craft a love-inspired sock puppet at the Family Art Project (Sat, Sun, Feb 11, 12).

Naturally, wellness is key as we wait out the cold weather, starting with a Meditative Winter Walk (Sat, Feb 4), session of Nature’s Medicine Cabinet: Winter Teas (Sun, Feb 5), Restful Yoga for Young Hibernators (Sun, Feb 5) and crafting oh-so-pampering Cold-Pressed Soap (Sun, Feb 12).

Of course, weekly Public Garden and Conservatory Highlights Walks meet every Sunday. Borrow binoculars or a waking stick to look for winter birds on our monthly Birding Walk (Sun, Feb 12).

The Family Art Project brings Hibernators' Dreams ( Feb 4, 5, Hibernators Weekend) Love for Woodland Friends (Feb 11, 12, anticipating Valentine’s Day), Winter Silhouettes (Feb 18, 19) and Sounds of Winter Stillness (Feb 25, 26).

The 2023 Horticultural Lectures continue virtually with Timelines—Glen Villa’s Quest to Make History Visible through Design (Wed, Feb 15).

Rebecca Allan’s exhibition Cultivating Eden is up in Wave Hill House, while session one of the Winter Workspace program finishes up with its last Drop-In Sunday (Sun, Feb 5) and Open Studios (Sat, Feb 18). Allan’s paintings explore the workspaces and labor of Wave Hill's horticulture staff.

The month ends on a high note with a performance (Sun, Feb 26) by the Warp Trio, a one-of-a-kind group that brings together Juilliard-trained musicians and members steeped in rock and jazz styles.
