Wave Hill Public Garden and Cultural Center eNews - November 2022

Arts and Entertainment

November 1, 2022

From: Wave Hill Public Garden and Cultural Center

Every weekend in November offers a feast for the senses, culminating in Thanksgiving. How thankful we are to be able to gather together, at the holiday table—and in the gardens. Starting Tuesday, November 1, the gardens close at 4:30PM as the day grows shorter.

Fall foliage—and our annual guided foliage walks on November 4/5—are a hallmark as the new season begins. Equally breathtaking, Samara Joy’s concert on November 6 (sold out!) introduces one of America’s most promising young vocalists singing jazz standards and more. Don’t miss out on upcoming concerts—learn more and purchase here!

All three artists in the fall show, What We Leave Behind, are in the gallery November 12 for artist talks, followed by a hands-on activity focused on walking sticks, with exhibiting artist Dennis RedMoon Darkeem. The next day (November 13) birders get to join our expert naturalists on an early birding walk, while an afternoon session of Forest Bathing offers a contemplative afternoon along the paths, in and out of the woodland with certified forest therapists.

A juried exhibition of close to four dozen works of botanical art opens November 19, a collaboration with the American Society of Botanical Artists. A number of the plants depicted in the artworks can be spotted in Wave Hill’s gardens and greenhouses, giving visitors the unique opportunity to compare botanical art with actual specimens.

Weekly Garden Walks and Gallery Tours make for a kind of walking bassline through the month, while Family Art Projects focus on creating leaf luminariescorn husk dolls and decorating grateful-for-trees canvas bags.
