ARIZONA -– Kari Lake is taking heat after encouraging political violence at a rally in Arizona on Sunday, urging supporters to “strap on a Glock” to prepare for the 2024 election. Her remarks came as she also pushed election conspiracy theories at a restaurant that hosted a January 6 watch party.
During her speech, Lake urged supporters to “strap on a Glock” because “the next six months is going to be intense” and suggested active and veteran military and law enforcement should “buckle up” and be “ready for action.” Lake’s campaign refused to clarify “whether she was implying there might be political violence in the next six months.”
This is not the first time Lake has encouraged political violence. Last year she said: “If you want to get to President Trump, you are going to have go through me, and you are going to have to go through 75 million Americans just like me. And I’m going to tell you, most of us are card-carrying members of the N.R.A. That’s not a threat — that’s a public service announcement.”
Lake once again pushed election conspiracy theories, her “signature talking point.” Lake suggested that “If Mohave County shows up 100% or close to it, they can’t cheat their way out of this in Maricopa County, no matter what they do,” and that “You all know what goes on in Maricopa County. I mean, you know that you know, the garbage that they’re pushing down there.” Republicans run local elections in Maricopa County.
