Liberty Mutual and Safeco Insurance have awarded Scott Mitchell Insurance Agency a 2024 Make More Happen Award for its volunteerism with Whole Latte Love Cafe, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to promote the value of diversity, dignity, and the quality of life for persons with disabilities through person-centered job training and awareness. The award includes an initial donation of $5,000 for Whole Latte Love Cafe which can be doubled to $10,000 just by having community supporters vote online.

Throughout the month of May, the Scott Mitchell Insurance Agency and Whole Latte Love Café community story will be highlighted on the official Make More Happen microsite at https://www.agentgiving.com/Scott-Mitchell-Insurance-Agency, where supporters can vote to help the team reach their donation goal. If the featured story receives at least 500 votes, the $5,000 donation will be raised to $10,000.

Scott and Beth Humbert are the proud parents of three daughters, with their youngest, Caroline, being labeled as a person with a disability. After being inspired by Caroline’s love for serving others, Whole Latte Love Café, Inc. was organized. Their purpose is to offer a specialized café setting, where supported employment (SE) training is extended for any transitional adult with intellectual or developmental disability after graduating high school. The $10,000 donation will contribute to the start-up costs associated with opening Whole CommUNITY Academy – an extension of the organizations current services – which is a Grade 23 vocational option for high school students with disabilities. 

“We are honored and incredibly grateful for being awarded the 2024 Make More Happen Award so we can continue to help our community and create a vocational option for high school students before graduation,” said Scott Mitchell, agency owner and president of Scott Mitchell Insurance Agency. “Whole Latte Love Café has had a significant impact in our local communities and are thrilled to double the donation with community support.”

Scott Mitchell Insurance Agency has helped with the organization’s coffee shop grand opening and volunteered at their first fundraising event, securing sponsors, and making donations throughout the year. Scott Mitchell is also a current board member of the nonprofit.

Throughout 2024, Liberty Mutual and Safeco Insurance will select up to 37 independent agents nationwide for a Make More Happen Award donating up to $370,000 to the nonprofits they support. Agencies became eligible for the award by submitting an application and photos demonstrating their commitment to a specific nonprofit.
