Kriyol Dance! Collective premieres Rasin San Bout

On Thursday, August 4, at 5:30 p.m.Kriyol Dance! Collective (KDC) debuts a new, original work titled Rasin San Bout ("Endless Roots" in Haitian Creole) to conclude the Immersions: Summer Break Program Series. Following the performance, join us at 6:30 p.m. for a reception on the WCMA patio. Galleries will remain open until 8 p.m.

With Rasin San Bout, KDC presents an immersive dance journey, exploring themes of immigration, migration politics, displacement, mobility, acculturation, cultural identity, and solidarity, especially as these issues relate to the health of Caribbean immigrant communities. Listen to the sounds of the Kriyol Vodou Band—the KDC’s official musical ensemble— as you watch the performance. Stroll the galleries to see paintings by Haitian artist Frantz Zéphirin and works by Guadalupe Maravilla and Mary Ann Unger that resonate with the themes of Rasin San Bout. Capacity will be limited with a combination of seating and standing room available.
