Arts and Entertainment

October 23, 2023

From: World Lemur Festival

The World Lemur Festival is celebrated around the world during the month of October. Madagascar is home to many unique plants and animals that are found nowhere else on Earth, including lemurs. Join us at the zoo as we learn about lemurs and their world while having fun.

Visit our beautiful Madagascar multi-species habitat and see and learn about Ring-Tailed Lemurs, Crowned Lemurs, & Black And White Ruffed Lemurs. Enjoy Lemur-themed activities and crafts; Keeper talks; and a lemur-focused  Storytime book reading at 11 a.m. Meet our lemur mascot, Ringo, and take pictures with him.Learn about the island of Madagascar and the challenges of deforestation and its threat to many animal species including lemurs.

In 2022, a grant from the Delaware Zoological Society Conservation Grant program at the Brandywine Zoo provided funds to support the Madagascar Biodiversity Partnership for a project focusing on alley cropping reforestation in Kianjavato, Madagascar. The next phase of the alley cropping project has continued into this year. While visiting the zoo, guests will have the opportunity to donate to the Madagascar Biodiversity Partnership.

This event is included with zoo admission. Get tickets in advance online or upon arrival at gate.
