West Virginia Symphony Orchestra Announces
Brass & Percussion Ensemble to perform at City of Charleston’s Fourth of July Celebrations

CHARLESTON, W.VA. (6/29/23) – The West Virginia Symphony Orchestra (WVSO) is excited to announce its participation in the City of Charleston’s Fourth of July celebration with a Brass and Percussion ensemble on the Boulevard.

Newly appointed Music Director Maurice Cohn and WVSO Brass and Percussion musicians will take the Regatta stage on Tuesday, July 4 at 8:00 p.m. for an evening of patriotic music to celebrate the holiday. The night ends with a fireworks display over the Kanawha River, thanks to the City of Charleston.

“I am thrilled that the WVSO is part of the city's 4th of July events,” said newly appointed Music Director Maurice Cohn. “Music is an essential element of how we tell the story of America, and we are looking forward to celebrating with all of you on the 4th!"

Selections for the evening include Joplin’s Ragtime Dance, Armed Forces Salute, John Denver’s Country Roads, Sousa’s Stars and Stripes Forever, and more. The concert will run roughly 90 minutes with a 15-minute intermission.

The West Virginia Symphony Orchestra is West Virginia’s premier performing arts organization, presenting classical, pops, family and chamber-music concerts annually throughout the Mountain State. Currently entering its 85th season, the WVSO is a proud member of the community and enriches the region by providing affordable, high-quality concerts, collaborations with West Virginia arts organizations and a nationally award-winning education program.
