Schools and Libraries

July 1, 2022

From: Yarmouth Town Libraries

From the director

What a whirlwind time this is. Many of us from the library, along with library board members, set up an information table at the june home games of the yd red sox, at the dy high school ball field. We had such fun meeting new people and sharing news about our upcoming summer reading activities and information about library services. We thank everyone who stopped by our table and played flying fish for fun and rewards. Our youth service folks have taken to the streets and visited with dozens of classrooms at each of the yarmouth schools – promoting summer reading, visiting with teachers, and getting to know the children. In early june, library board member george bovino and i participated in career day at the mattacheese middle school. We talked to 5 groups of 6th and 7th graders on the joy of librarianship and school administration. It doesn’t get much better than that.

The yarmouth town libraries
are fine free!

If you have overdue yarmouth library materials, you can bring them back to the library and not worry about a fine for the tardiness. We went fine-free a while back and we just want everyone to know.

Summer Reading

"Oceans of Possiblities"

Our Summer Reading Program “Oceans of Possibilities” begins Monday, July 5. Many activities and programs are planned for all ages, so there’s something for everyone. It’s not too late to sign up. Register online by downloading the Beanstack app to your device. There is also the option to register in person at the Library. You will receive a reading log to record your time reading, write book reviews and earn badges. Everyone who records their reading, in either format, will be entered in the weekly drawing for rewards. The programs we’re offering will engage, entertain, and motivate reading for all ages and interests.
