About The Alley Cat Players

The Alley Cat Players are a performance troupe. Mostly we do multi-media performance art pieces that combine a literary text such as a play script, poetry, or a short story with visual art, music, projections, dance and movement, and other art forms. We also put on plays, visual art exhibitions, and other events, as the mood strikes us.

What makes a show an Alley Cats show? Strong female roles, literary merit, and the chance to create innovative, unusual art. We’re drawn to mythic elements, magic realism, surrealism, and opportunities for collaboration across artistic disciplines.

In the spirt of Art for Everyone, the Alley Cats perform free or low-cost shows. We are often to be found performing in re-purposed spaces, public parks, libraries, and art galleries.

The Alley Cat Players, Inc. are a 501(c)(3) non-profit.  The Alley Cats were founded by Jo Averill-Snell and Teresa Elena Gallar on August 5, 2000.  They, Ned Averill-Snell, and Clare Ward-Jenkins serve on the Board of Directors.
