Apopka Police Department

112 East Sixth Street
407-703-1771

"The Apopka Police Department and its individual members will, without favor or prejudice, work cooperatively with the public to provide a safe community and strive to heighten the quality of life for all citizens."

We are a progressive and growing community just outside of Orlando, in northwest Orange County. We look forward to serving our citizens with a quick, professional response.

The history of the Apopka Police department starts in the early 1900's. Prior to then, the local Sheriff had performed the policing task in this once small community. Over the years we have evolved to meet the growing needs of the City. In the early 1900's local Constables patrolled the area. Eventually the City adopted the Apopka Police into charter. A few Chief's took their turns in office to include Chief Fred Risener, Chief R.L. Sizemore, Chief Ralph Jones and Chief Tom Collins.

Chief Joseph C. Brown Jr. was the most recent Chief of Police. He made strides to advance the department into the modern age. Chief Brown retired in 2004 after serving as Chief for 9 years. Deputy Chief Vavrek is currently assigned the duties of this position.

We strive towards being a leader in law enforcement. Learning from our past and moving positively towards the future, the Apopka Police department will continue to change, meeting the needs of the citizens.
