About us:

Ardara United Presbyterian Church formely the Duffsville United Prebyterian Church located three miles west of Irwin, just off Route 993, on Nehrig Hill Road, was organized July,21 1895, and dedicated October 27, 1895, with a congregation of approximately sixty. The first church was on the present site in Ardara; however, in 1948, the building was moved to a new foundation further back from the township road.

The Rev. M.E. Dunn served the congregation as a pastor from 1896 until 1901. Other pastors include: Rev D.D. Dodds, 1902-1907; Rev W.W. Willis, 1908-1930; Rev. F.G. Wright, 1930-1949; Rev. Paul R. Pulliam, 1950-1952; Rev J. Lawrence Ayers (first full-time), 1956-1961; Rev. John C. Dean, 1962-1967; Rev. Robert G. Miller, 1973-1976. In 1953, Donald Huston, a student at Pittsburgh-Xenia Seminary, became the first minister to serve only the Ardara congregation. Some other seminary students serving Ardara Church were William Provost, John Dean, Robert Salmon, and Franklin Provance. The Rev. Carlisle Llyod is the present pastor, who was installed January 13, 1980. He and his wife Janet Blauser, were married in Ardara Church during the worship service on March 7, 1980 by Rev. William P. Arnott, pastor of the Level Green Presbyterian Church.

The ladies organized the first Missionary Society February 27, 1896, with the following officers; Lizzie Robinson, president; Sadie Burk, treasure; Katie Loutsenhizer, secretary. The Women's Association continues to meet and is involved in various mission activities.

The congregation looks to both the Steward Station (Level Green) Church and Bethel (Christ) United Presbyterian Church as mother churches, as the provided the first leadership. From 1895 to 1952, the Ardara, Bethel, and Sewickley congregations shared ministerial services.

The Ardara Church continues to grow physically and spritually, We endeavor to serve the Lord with our talents, skills, service, lives and finances.
