Associated New York State Food Processors

The Associated New York State Food Processors, founded in 1885, is the oldest statewide food processing trade association in the nation. Our principal function is to be active in legislative and regulatory affairs in New York State. We represent various segments of the food industry, and are recognized as the voice of the industry in Albany, and are called upon regularly for positions on issues common to our membership.

It is vital that the food industry be united for the well-being of all. States such as New York and California have the most legislative and regulatory activity on environmental issues and food safety concerns.

Those with similar activities and concerns are welcome to join the Associated New York State Food Processors.

As the market, needs, and goals of the industry have changed over the years, the association's name changed from the New York Canned Goods Packers Association to the New York Canners (1912), the Association of New York Canners (1922), and until 1968 was called the New York State Canners and Freezers.

The membership was broadened to include active membership from the New York Association of Wine Producers in 1981 and the New York State Association of Refrigerated Warehouses in 1984.

We now represent a major portion of the state processed food industry, and our list of processors is impressive, including that of fruits, vegetables, wine, and food specialty items.
