Baldwin Fire Department

2386 Grand Avenue
516-223-6858

The Baldwin Fire District was organized in 1926 to afford a rapidly growing community fire protection equal to its growth. Volunteers not only gave their services, but gave and raised money for buying land, building firehouses, purchasing apparatus, and paying for the upkeep of same, all without cost to the community. The operation of the Department was financed entirely by contributions and support given by the residents at fund-raising bake sales, dances, fairs, etc.

The Baldwin Fire District is governed by the Town Law of the State of New York and is under the jurisdiction of the Town Board. The Town board designates the boundaries of the Fire District, and it is within these boundaries that the residents are assessed for the District.

The law relating to Fire Districts provides for a Board of Fire Commissioners who supervise affairs of the Fire District. The Board consists of five members, one of whom is elected each year for a term of five years For Fire or Medical Emergency Dial 516-223-0066
