“The Festival started 30 years ago. It came from an idea of the festivals hosted in the past, and the current firefighter’s fish fry. The Baltimore Chamber of Commerce, The Joint Basil Volunteer Fire Department, and the Lions Club produced two people to be on the board, and I was elected Director. Officers were selected from a very large attendance, and the festival started and has continued to this day.

Many ideas have been presented and tried over the past several years. Although the festival is much bigger than it’s ever been, we still use the basics of family oriented games, entertainment, vendors, and rides. Our parade has grown over the years with input from the schools, churches, and other organizations.
