Baring Baptist Church will regularly (every 6 months) be offering an in-depth course called “Basic Baptist Biblical Beliefs”. The course will be held at the church building. The format is a “college style” course with syllabus, workbook and related materials. The first night will be a detailed introduction, explanation and orientation for the course.

The material (except for the 9 Doctrinal Statements) was written by and will be taught by the pastor, Rev. John Ledford. There is no cost for taking the course. This is a great opportunity for anyone who is interested in what Southern Baptists believe. The course is based on the 2000 version of the Baptist Faith and Message. Southern Baptists are not very well known in the New England area. There are only 17 churches and missions in the state of Maine. It is our hope to educate and inform all who are interested in what we teach and believe about the Bible.

Most of the beliefs (Doctrines) that will be studied are common to most all Baptists. There are some distinctive doctrines, but there is a very common general Biblical history with most Baptist groups in America and Canada. All who are interested in a better understanding of the basic beliefs of Baptists in general, as well as some Southern Baptist distinctives, are welcome to attend and participate in the course when it is offered.
