Purpose and Mission

Purpose (“Why do we exist?”)

Bay Area Presbyterian Church exists to radiate the light of the gospel of Jesus Christ to the Clear Lake Area of Houston and beyond.                                                    

“Jesus spoke to them, saying, ‘I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”

(John 8:12)

As part of Jesus’ bride, the church, we will radiate the light of the gospel as we…

• Administer the resources of our members - time, talent, treasure         

“For as in one body we have many members, and the members do not all have the same function, so we, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another.”

(Romans 12:4-5) 

• Worship in Spirit and truth        

“But the hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such people to worship him.”

(John 4:23)

• Instruct each generation to live God’s Word

“For whatever was written in former days was written for our instruction, that through endurance and through 

the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.”

(Romans 15:4)

• Fellowship to support one another

“And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is 

the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.”

(Hebrews 10:24-25)

• Evangelize through word and deed

“In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.”

(Matthew 5:16)
