The Bedford Historical Society is a privately funded, non-profit, educational organization. Since 1916 our mission has been to actively practice preservation throught he acquisiton of properties and artifacts; and to encourage an appreciation of our rich local history through educational programs and exhibits of our collections. In addition to operating and maintaining eight historic properties, the society maintains two other properties for the benefit of the Town. We operate a museum of local history at the Court House and a one-room schoolhouse museum at the 1829 "Stone Jug". The society sponsors events and lectures of interest to our membership and the community, educational tours and programs, special exhibits of our collections, as well as fundraising events to support our mission.
