Belmont Middle School is part of the Shaker Regional School District, located in the Lakes Region of New Hampshire. As we start the 2005-2006 school year, we anticipate an enrollment of approximately 480 students in grades five through eight. Class sizes throughout the school are under 25 students. It is our intent to meet each student's individual needs as best we can.

Belmont Middle School Goals:

1. To utilize the NEASC report to address the areas of recommendation that were stated.

A NEASC review committee has been formed by Belmont Middle School to address each of the recommendations set forth by NEASC. That will ensure that BMS remains moving forward to the goal of continuous educational improvement.

2. To utilize the school wide theme of "community".

We will infuse the theme of community into our total middle school program. We will strive to assist students in truly understand the meaning of being in a collaborative community, as well as helping them learn the benefits to everyone involved.

3. To increase parent/teacher/student collaboration.

As a staff we will continue to explore every possible scenario to increase parent/teacher/student contact

4. To continue to establish and implement all curricular areas.

The BMS staff will work diligently in curriculum committees and in grade and team level meetings, to plan a course to implement all curricular areas to best effect student learning.

5. To explore best use of space and budget.

We will continue to explore all avenues to creatively utilize existing space in the most productive manner. In addition, we will work diligently to manage our budget in a responsible manner without negatively impacting student programs

6. To best utilize the results of the NWEA and NECAP testing to maximize student learning.

We will review and utilize the data gathered from these tests to guide instructional practices to meet the diverse needs of our student population.

7. Continue to monitor the requirements of NCLB and further develop a plan to ensure that our school meets AYP and that our teachers meet HQT.

BMS will diligently review test results and adjust instructional practices and services which are provided to our students to ensure progress towards meeting Adequate Yearly Progress in all areas. Our staff and administration will also set a plan to ensure that all teachers meet the HQT requirements.
