Mission:

Berwick Academy, founded in 1791, is a Pre-kindergarten through grade 12 college-preparatory day school dedicated to promoting virtue and useful knowledge among the rising generations. As one school with three divisions, Berwick develops balanced leaders through personal relationships that foster confidence and achievement. By engaging in a program distinguished by academic challenge, creative expression and performance, innovative technology, ethical sportsmanship, wellness, and a commitment to the common good, Berwick graduates become resilient citizens. Berwick graduates live out our core values of balance, engagement, excellence, and integrity.

About Us:

Berwick Academy is Maine's oldest, independent Pre-K through Post Graduate private school. Our community is dynamic, offering challenging academics, competitive athletics, and creative arts programs. Members of the community operate within a context of caring and respect as we pursue our quest for "useful knowledge" as "one school with three divisions." Students and faculty are encouraged to expand their horizons by balancing academics with athletic, dramatic, and musical options.

Berwick is a school community where it is cool to be smart, cool to be yourself, and cool to try.

Berwick is as exciting as it is challenging, and as playful as it is hard working; a place where discovery is applauded and students are more than classmates - they’re friends. Walk across the campus and you’ll instantly feel it – this is more than a school; it is the convergence of three divisions, each with its own personality, but together forming a community that is uniquely Berwick.

Since its inception in 1791, Berwick has educated students through a purposeful blend of academics, arts, and athletics. The curriculum is traditional in its roots yet innovative in approach, fostering self-discipline, hard work, and healthy skill sets. Students here are encouraged to take risks, find their voice, and tap into the energy of campus life and community activities.
